me

In 2015 at the age of 25 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Low Grade Epithelial Metastatic Ovarian Cancer (how's that for a mouth full!) when I was at the peak of my youth, working as a designer at software company, Atlassian and living with my partner in a unit in Sydney. I don't want to let my diagnosis define the rest of my life, but it's an ongoing segment of my life and a story that needs to be told to help those who will be diagnosed and have been diagnosed, to share with my friends and family, for cathartic healing and as my legacy (sorry to be morbid but mortality is a close friend of mine these days). Be prepared to giggle, to cry or to just feel indifferent because I'm not as compelling a writer as I think I am or I'm just not a likeable protagonist as I share my experience from diagnosis and losing my poor curvy physique that defined my youth, earning me the questionable nickname at the pub I worked at - 'Tits and Legs'. If I was once Tits and Legs I'm now 'Skin and Bone' but some people love that waif look I guess, so silver linings. I can wear whatever I want now, with the exception of body hugging clubwear, which is probably for the best after 20. I have a little dog called Ruby and spend the days I'm not working recovering, at my pottery studio, Claypool or at the beach in summer.

You can see where the nickname came from...
